A very excited and exuberant Lisa (Misa M. from Taxi-net) travelled from Colorado just to participate in the seminar. Her favorite part was the live gator reference!
The UTA grew from the need for unity and professionalism within the taxidermy industry. In art, unity occurs when all of the elements combine to make a balanced, harmonious, complete whole. The UTA creates that unity, a place for all individuals to come together for the betterment of the industry and those that support it.
It’s no coincidence that the UTA starts with You! Be a part of the most positive new force in taxidermy. Join the United Taxidermist Association today. www.unitedtaxidermyassociation.com
Participating in the Gatorpalooza seminar were: Bill Motzer, David George, Brandi Vansickle, Lisa Martin, Hunter Gerow, Chris Horne, Tony Heisly, Robert Steel Jr., Ros G. Moon III, Michale Cianelli, Janice Floyd, Mark Delvecchio, Thomas Baker and Terry Johnson. With instructors Marcus Zimmerman and Tommy Voyer (and chaperon or two!)
Starting in August of 2009 the word went out across the Taxi-net world that another hands-on seminar was being proposed for the Pennsylvania Taxidermists Association show. Participants were being solicited for the first hands on reptile seminar to be deemed "Gatorpalooza". Each participant purchased their own alligator to mount well ahead of the seminar through either Tommy Voyer or their own suppliers.
After all the gators that were to be mounted were paid for and the final RSVPs were in place, all the participants met at the PTA show in Seven Springs, PA. The gators were kept to a smaller size in order to facilitate completion within the time-frame allowed.
All age groups were covered at the seminar. Hunter, the young man here enjoyed the seminar so much he is helping get turtles for the next seminar.
Nothing better than hands on instruction to really help sink a point home...except for maybe live reference!
Put together by Tommy Voyer, Frank Katoula and Marcus Zimmerman, the 3 day hands on alligator mounting seminar proved to be a great success.
The UTA thanked Tommy and Marcus for their contribution to improving the skills of our industry taxidermists and provided seminar completion certificates to the participants.
