I was born in Dupage County Illinois just west of Chicago. I lived with my parents Ken and Joanne Peters in West Chicago Illinois until my dad was transferred to Dallas TX when I was 16, he worked for General Mills. I graduated H.S. in 1986 and moved to Michigan in 1990.
I started in the taxidermy industry in 1992 working as a skinner at a studio in Mecosta MI. After two years of skinning I worked into the tannery and began working on the shaving wheel. I learned to build tans, break hides and all aspects of tanning. It is hard work but I enjoyed the challenges and deadlines for completing orders.
In 2003 I went to work for my current employer the WLG. I started out shaving, then went on to run the finish department, then spent some time in the shipping department. I got to learn every aspect of the company

The UTA grew from the need for unity and professionalism within the taxidermy industry. In art, unity occurs when all of the elements combine to make a balanced, harmonious, complete whole. The UTA creates that unity, a place for all individuals to come together for the betterment of the industry and those that support it.
It’s no coincidence that the UTA starts with You! Be a part of the most positive new force in taxidermy. Join the United Taxidermist Association today. www.unitedtaxidermyassociation.com
which helped me to move into the customer service department where I am the manager today. I enjoy working with all the taxidermists on orders, and any problems they may encounter. Over the years I have been able to build many great relationships with clients and have become close friends with some, it is this type of interaction I really enjoy.
I did dabble in taxidermy a little mounting deer heads, I quickly found it was best to leave the mounting for people with artistic ability and stayed with tanning!
I have a wife Angie and a 7 year old daughter Hadlee. We enjoy camping, traveling and spending time with family. My daughter is just starting to shoot a bow and seems very excited about it, I can’t wait until she is 10 and we can hunt together. I am an avid bow hunter and look forward to my yearly trip to the sand hills of Nebraska to chase whitetails.
I look forward to serving on the board of the UTA and helping to promote this great organization!
